The 1-inch at 316 grams is the travel size and the better gift at a lower price. It fits in a pocket and it is the one you hand to someone across a table. What it does not do is produce the reaction the larger cubes produce, because at that scale the weight surprises people without alarming them.

The 1.5-inch at 1.07 kilograms is the one the entire category is built around. Heavy enough that the first lift is genuinely startling, small enough to pass around a room, and the size that photographs in a hand correctly. If you are buying one cube, buy this one.

The 2-inch at 2.53 kilograms is where people stop passing it around casually and start setting it down deliberately. It is the right choice if you already know you like dense objects, or if it is going on a shelf rather than a desk.

The 3-inch at 8.54 kilograms is a collector’s piece. Buying straight into it is usually a mistake, because the experience does not scale the way the price does, and the first cube should be the one you can carry around and show people.

Every size is 99.95% pure tungsten, machined to tight tolerances and finished by hand. Purity matters more than it sounds: cubes sold without a stated figure are often tungsten alloy or a heavy-metal sinter, which is denser than steel but noticeably lighter than the real thing, and the difference is obvious the moment you hold both.

You can check any seller’s claim with arithmetic. Take the edge length in centimetres, cube it, multiply by 19.3, and you have the weight in grams. A cube meaningfully lighter than that number is not solid pure tungsten, whatever the listing says.
